[GREY COUNTY, Ontario, June 23, 2025] Since 2020, Community Foundation Grey Bruce has managed the permanently endowed Southgate Community Fund that supports projects by charities and non-profits in the Southgate area. The fund aims to enrich quality of life for the people in the Township of Southgate through support of community initiatives.

Neighbourhood Small Grants (NSG) are grassroots grantmaking supporting people making positive changes in their community. NSG empower community members to bring their neighbours together, create new connections, and make their community a better place to live. Awards of $500 are given to groups of individuals not associated with formalized incorporated organizations.

The Foundation is pleased to announce that two NSG have been awarded by the Southgate Community Fund in Spring 2025:

  • Dundalk Santa Claus Parade is a motorized parade celebrating the Christmas season that attracts young families and those with mobility challenges for local entertainment, hot chocolate, loot bags and holiday cheer.
  • Community First Housing Southgate addresses the housing crisis by hosting community stakeholder engagement meetings throughout the Township of Southgate to discuss, investigate and identify potential solutions.

Karl Ellis, Chair of the Southgate Community Fund Advisory Committee says: “Neighbourhood Small Grants are an effective way to bring community together and to support strong ties between neighbours in Southgate communities. Congratulations and thanks to the recipients for their efforts.”
