Join the Philanthropy and Estate Planning Seminar: A Lunch and Learn Event for Professional Advisors with Keynote Speaker Paul Nazareth hosted by Community Foundation Grey Bruce and Grey Bruce Health Services' Five Foundations on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm. The event will be hosted at Grey Roots Museum & Archives (West of Rockford, 102599 Grey Road 18, Owen Sound). Certificates provided for Verifiable CE credit will be provided to all participants. 

Networking and lunch will be provided. The seminar is $50/person and registration can be completed by emailing foundation@cfgb.ca or calling 519-371-7203.

“Foundation Resources for Give Planning”

Local philanthropic professionals will introduce the services offered locally to support estate planning, explaining how your local community foundation and hospital foundations can help you advise a client and support a philanthropic plan.  You will also learn about local foundations’ participation in the national WillPower campaign. Wills aren’t just a legal way to distribute your personal assets, they can be a powerful tool for change in the world. Adding a charitable gift to your Will for your clients is easier than you think – learn about resources and connections to help your planning.

For many clients, charitable giving is something they are already doing, but, as always, planning is the key to multiplying both philanthropic impact and their personal fulfillment. Join us for business development insight into the current landscape of Canadian philanthropy and where your clients are already engaged in it. We will discuss and share case studies of not just tax benefits but more importantly how to have ‘The Philanthropic Conversation’ about how personal legacy through asset-based giving, financial and estate planning can help shape that vision including new insights from the estate and financial planning community including new resources on donations of life insurance, cryptocurrency and more.

 

Paul Nazareth has worked in Canada’s philanthropic sector for over 20 years. Currently, Vice President, Education & Development at the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP), and was previously VP at the charity CanadaHelps. Paul has been a philanthropic advisor with a national wealth management firm in a trust company and spent 15 years working with charities from Universities to Churches.

Paul is on the board of several charities including The Circle on Indigenous Philanthropy and on the Advisory Council of Carleton University’s Masters in Philanthropy and Nonprofit Leadership program. He serves as faculty for the Master Financial Advisor in Philanthropy (MFA-P) program led by CAGP, Knowledge Bureau and Spire Philanthropy, and is a frequent instructor for the tax and advisor community with organizations like CPA, Advocis and Estate Planning Councils. Paul writes on philanthropy for a variety of publications and regularly appears on national radio and television to speak about creating a personal legacy through smart, generous giving.
