In 2022, members of Union Place were able to take part in weekly lawn bowling at the Owen Sound Roselawn Bowling Club. Lawn bowling enabled members to try something new, feel more connected to their community, and most importantly, have lots of fun! A 2022 Community Grant provided funding to purchase equipment in order for members to take part in weekly Lawn Bowling.

Jackie Ralph, the Supervisor for Youth Awareness and Education at the Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce, shares: "What did the grant truly fund? Friendships! Fun! Physical Activity! Connection! Belonging! It also funded inclusion! What started as weekly visits expanded into attending the Lawn Bowling Club barbeques and tournaments, building our members’ feeling of confidence and connectedness to their community."

Being physical activity in your community is a great way to improve your overall wellbeing, both physically and emotionally!
