Capital Funding Grant

CAPITAL GRANT PROGRAM

The Community Foundation Grey Bruce provides a Capital Grant component in the Fall granting cycle.  Applicants must indicate below which area of interest their application fits under.

GRANTING PRIORITIES:

  • To assist organizations with the purchase of major equipment and to assist with small renovation projects that would contribute to an organization’s success and serve their client base.  Some examples of projects that would qualify are: small renovations to rooms to accommodate service to clients: equipment necessary to serve clients
  • Maximum amount of the grant provided will not exceed $35,000.00
  • Community Foundation Grey Bruce has identified the following areas of interest:

∙ Children and Youth               ∙ Health

∙ Recreation                           ∙ Art and Culture

∙ Environment                        

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

In order to be eligible to apply for a grant, an organization must:

  • Be registered as a charity with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) – note that organizations operating under the auspices of a municipal government (i.e. some libraries, museums, galleries, committees of council) are eligible to apply through the Municipality
  • Provide services in Grey Bruce Counties

 

APPLICATION  INFORMATION:

All applicants must speak to the Foundation by phone or in person about their project. Upon verbal recommendation, a letter of intent must then be submitted by June 1 and reviewed. Projects deemed appropriate for funding will invited to complete a full application by the deadline below. The full application form is ONLY available through the Foundation directly.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:  September 15

 

GRANT DECISION MAKING TIMELINE

The proposals will be reviewed by the Grants Review committee when they are received.  There may be requests for further information or meetings between the applicant and the grant reviewer.  All applicants will be notified on the outcome of their application.  Grants will be paid when all other funding has been secured, all necessary approvals required to proceed have been secured and upon signing of Grant Agreement between the applicant.  Final reports are due within 45 days of the completion of the project. This date will be stipulated in the agreement.


CAPITAL GRANT ASSESSMENT CRITERIA:

All proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria:

  • How was the project need determined and what were the methods used to identify the need?
  •  How does the project fit with the areas of interest identified by the Community Foundation Grey Bruce?
  • If similar programs are offered within their delivery area, why should the applicant’s program be considered?
  • What is the capability of the applicant to undertake the project?
  • How will the success of the project be determined?
  • How sustainable is the project (if applicable)?
  • Have the other funders committed to the project?
  • Have all the necessary approvals been secured?

 

WHAT THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION GREY BRUCE DOES NOT FUND:

Grants are NOT available for:

  • Core operating costs or current program costs
  • Dollar for dollar replacement of pre-existing operating funds
  • Operating or capital deficits
  • Activities of religious organizations that serve primarily their membership and/or their direct religious purposes
  • Endowment funds
  • Retroactive funding for any project expenses incurred prior to the Foundation’s decision date
  • Annual fundraising drives for operating support
  • Individuals
  • Political activity as defined by Canada Customs and Revenue Agency’s publication on registering a charity
  • Programs and services outside of Grey Bruce
  • Applicants cannot apply for a concurrent grants unless they are part of a collaborative and are in good standing with the Foundation
  • New builds
  • Land purchase or acquisition

Applicants must confirm their applications are received by the Foundation.
